Value demonstration in health care remains a challenge. This paper examines traditional approaches to pricing and the evolution of value-based pricing (VBP), and proposes a new framework for evidence-based valuation (EBV). The main objective of EBV is to estimate the value-based pricing range for the new medicine, identify key product attributes that drive value as perceived by various stakeholders, and then elucidate the requisite evidence to support those value claims.

PURPOSE: To review #brachytherapy resources and to explore current practice patterns in #Italy.

Abstract

#Bromodomains are #protein domains that recognize acetylated lysine residues and are important for recruiting a large number of #protein and #multiprotein complexes to sites of lysine acetylation. They play an important role in chromatin biology and are popular targets for #drugdiscovery. Compound screening in this area requires the use of #biochemical assays to assess the binding potency of #potentialdrug candidates. Foremost among the efforts to target bromodomains are those aimed at identifying compounds that interact with the bromodomain and extra-terminal domain (BET) family of bromodomain-containing proteins (BRD2, BRD3, BRD4, and BRDT). Phase II evaluation of dalantercept in the treatment of persistent or recurrent epithelial #ovariancancer: An NRG #Oncology/#GynecologicOncology Group study

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To determine the efficacy of dalantercept, a soluble ALK1 inhibitor receptor fusion protein, in #patients with persistent or recurrent #ovariancarcinoma and related #malignancies.

METHODS: Eligibility criteria included measurable disease, 1-2 prior cytotoxic regimens and GOG performance status (PS) ≤2. Dalantercept was administered subcutaneously at 1.2 mg/kg every 3 weeks until disease progression or development of unacceptable #toxicity. The primary null hypothesis was the probability of response ≤0.10 and the probability of 6-month progression-free survival without receipt of non-protocol therapy (event-free survival at 6 months, EFS6) ≤0.15, using RECIST 1.1 criteria

Utilisation of #geriatric assessment in #oncology - a survey of #Australian #medicaloncologists

Abstract

INTRODUCTION:

#Geriatric assessment (GA) is a multidimensional health assessment of the older person to evaluate their physical and cognitive function, comorbidities, #nutrition, #medications, psychological state, and social supports. GA may help #oncologists optimise care for older patients with #cancer. The aim of this study was to explore the views of #Australian #medicaloncologists regarding the incorporation of geriatric screening tools, GA and collaboration with geriatricians into routine #clinicalpractice.

METHODS:

Members of the #MedicalOncology Group of #Australia were invited to complete an online survey that evaluated respondent demographics, practice characteristics, treatment decision-making factors, use of GA, and access to #geriatricians.

AIM: To compare the #clinicalimpact of two different health department sanctioned ACP documentation strategies.

METHODS: An unblinded, pre-and-post, controlled study over two corresponding six-month periods in 2016 and 2017 comparing the current discretional not-for-resuscitation (NFR) with a new, inclusive GOC strategy in two medical/#oncology wards at a large private hospital. Main outcomes were the uptake of ACP forms per #hospitalisation and the timing between hospital admission, ACP form completion, and in-patient death.
